Most individuals, whether they know it or not – have a relationship with God. Some turn to the loving presence for guidance and support. Others turn to it when in need or despair. Yet others denounce the existence of a Spirit with fervor and passion. But who and what is God? And what is the will of the Spirit? What is our Divine purpose?
Who and What is God?
Throughout the course of human history the presence of God has been called by many names; Love, Beauty, Presence, Divine Whole, Unified Field, Lord, Spirit, the Universe.
And many, many more.
However, as one of the predicaments of being human is that we tend to give something a name or a label, and immediately think that we know what it is.
While altogether missing the essence of that which we have labeled.
This is oftentimes the case with God as well. Individuals have all sorts of labels. All manner of descriptions of who and what God is.
Yet never realizing that what the Spirit is, is beyond words. It cannot be described and confined to words. Only realized within.
But as we, at The Love & Light Store, are confined to use words, we will, to the best of our ability seek to describe who and what the Spirit of Love is.
We will begin by describing what God is not.
God is not an anthropomorphic man in the sky. The presence of the Spirit has no beard.
It is not capricious or jealous. It does not ever judge or condemn. Does not differentiate between anything.
It never separates.
God has no set of rules and regulations that we need to adhere to in order to come to a special place.
There are no forms we need to follow to please the Lord.
The Spirit is not made in the image and likeness of humanity. And so it does not have any of the human traits.
Thus, its will and our Divine purpose, are one and the same.
God and Life are one and the same
The spirit is Love. A loving presence. It is intelligence, beauty, wholeness, health, abundance, Divine order.
Always and forever for each of us. Never ever against any of us.
The Spirit of Love and Life are one and the same. There is no separation.
There is no external deity that we need to please and appease.
Only Love. Only God.
God is unconditional Love
Love may be described as the full and complete giving of oneself. No holding back. No asking for anything in return.
This is what Life is – always giving of itself. Fully and freely.
Imagine for a moment the sun.
The sun sits in the sky giving and sharing of its gifts. The sun does not hold back. Nor does it ask for anything in return.
It shines and it shares its warmth and luminosity. Everywhere fully and freely. For all to receive.
This is the Love of the Spirit. The Love of God.
It has no
In the eyes of God, all are equal. No one holds more worth than any other. No one holds less worth than any other.
However, we need to learn to receive it
However, though God is eternally seeking to give all of its good to each of us – we need to be open and available enough to receive it. We need to allow it, to receive it.
Which means that we need to do all the inner work necessary in terms of
Fully and freely.
All are equals. Equally worthy. There is not one thing we can to do to earn the Spirit’s love. Nor is there anything we can do to lose it.
It has, is and will be given unconditionally. As God is the same yesterday, today and for all of eternity.
Nothing ever comes into our experience uninvited. But everything that enters, comes because we are in vibrational alignment with it.
Regardless of whether it is something we want or something we don’t want.
It is never God, punishing us or denying us our good.
It is always us, through holding on to small and limited perceptions and beliefs that check and obstruct the Love and good of the Spirit from flowing into our lives.
In other words, the more we surrender to the Love & Light of God. The more we release and let go of our little egoic self with its neediness and its greediness.
The more open, available and receptive to that eternal and infinite Love we will be.
Understanding this is vital. And herein lies the major difference between religion and spirituality.
Understanding this, is a part of our Divine purpose. It is the very reason for our existence.
Where is God?
There is only one Divine Whole.
All exists within the Divine Whole and nothing exists outside of it.
Which means that in all of creation there is no spot where God is not. The Spirit is everywhere, always in full, never in part.
In other words, there is no place where Love is more than any other place. There is no place where there is less Beauty than in any other place.
Other than by surface appearance. Other than by a small and limited perception.
We need to stop looking at the world through the eyes of the ego. And rather learn to look through the eyes of God.
Learning to see only Love. Along with the other qualities of God; Beauty, Harmony, Wholeness, Oneness, Harmony, and Abundance.
This is the will of the spirit. This is a part of our Divine purpose. To see the Loving Spirit everywhere.
Even in the midst of seeming chaos or calamity.
Love and Beauty are everywhere. There is no spot where they are not.
Who and what are we?
If God is everywhere fully present, never in absence. Then who and what are we?
All of life, including our human forms, are unique and individual expressions of the One.
In all of the cosmos, there are no two things exactly alike. No two galaxies. No two solar systems, no two stars or planets.
All the way down to the smallest of Life’s building blocks, there are no two things that are exactly alike.
The spirit never repeats itself. It never duplicates its creations. Never, does the spirit make a
Everything is uniquely and perfectly created.
We are spiritual beings having, not
As being made in the image and likeness of God, we have been given the gift of independent thinking.
This gift allows us to think independently of any circumstance. Of any situation we may find ourselves in.
In other words, whatever appears to be going on in our lives we may turn our attention toward the Love and the goodness of the Spirit.
Regardless of what another is doing, we can choose to respond with Love and compassion. Rather than with fear and hatred.
It has been stated that the world is made up of our individual and collective perceptions, beliefs, and conversations. This is true.
Two individuals may find themselves in the same circumstance. Yet their perception of it can be worlds apart.
Choice is a function of awareness
In other words, our experiences are not determined by what happens. But by our thoughts and perceptions of that which happens.
And so, we have not come here to have a human experience as for most individuals that is one of negativity, turmoil, hostility, fear, worry, and doubt.
We have come here to transcend all of that, having a human incarnation where we gradually learn to make higher and higher choices.
Choices out of Love and Compassion.
Now choice, is a function of awareness. It is not possible for an individual to choose lest they know that they have a choice.
In other words, as we grow, unfold and expand into higher and higher perspectives and vibrations – our ability to choose increases accordingly.
The higher we go in consciousness the more choices will be available to us.
Choice, or responding, is making a conscious decision from a place of stillness whereas reaction is simply allowing whatever is going on to pull us into an emotional whirlpool where we have no control over what we do or say.
As part of our Divine purpose and the will of the Spirit, we have come here to learn, to grow, to unfold, and to expand that we may make higher and higher choices.
Choices birthed from Love and Light.
What is our Divine purpose?
And so, as we incarnate onto this planet, as we take this human form we do so with a clear and Divine purpose.
It is not by chance that we ended up here. There may be stories about our birth saying that we were a mistake and so forth.
The truth, however, is that we chose to come here.
Our souls made the choice to come to this planet for the next chapter in its growth and unfolding.
And so we had to find the means to get here – which ended up being our parents – whatever their stories.
Our purpose is two fold:
To know God, and to reveal the face of God
That is why we are here. This is why we have chosen to come here.
To know God simply means to seek to go ever deeper into that which is True and Real.
It means that we are increasingly open and available for insights and realizations to be revealed to us, that we may have an eternally closer realization of who and what God is.
To express the face of God means to allow the qualities of the Spirit to come through us in ever expanding ways.
That we may release our inherent and Divine gifts, talents, and abilities in ever greater and grander ways.
It means catching the Spirit’s Highest vision for our lives, allowing it and our future selves to guide us along the path toward it.
What is the loving will of the Spirit
If all of life is here for the will of the Spirit, what then i the will of God?
Just as the purpose of our existence is simple, so is the will of the Spirit:
For all of Life to come into forever greater and grander expression of itself
We can use many, many words, we can write books about it, we can talk about it all day long – but that is what the will of the Spirit boils down to.
The Spirit wants all of life to grow, and to unfold, and to expand, continuously allowing the small and limited to die that the new and expanded may emerge.
It wants this, as this is how the Spirit itself is allowed to come into forever greater and grander expression.
In, through and as all of life.
This is what the evolutionary impulse that penetrates and permeates all of the cosmos is all about.
The impulse that is inherent and intrinsic within all of life.
Independent thinking is what separates us from most other forms of life
The thing is that most of life is bound by the evolution of its species. Which is oftentimes very slow.
A dog, for example, cannot evolve and unfold independently of the species of dogs.
A dog is made in the image of God, which means that it too is here to reveal and reflect the qualities of the Spirit.
However, the dog lacks the gift of conscious thinking allowing it to think independently of any circumstance. Which is the reason that it is only made in the image, not the likeness of
This is no so for us having a human incarnation. We can think independently of any circumstance.
Thus, we have been given the ability to consciously take part in the evolution of our own unique and individual soul.
We don’t have to sit around and wait for the rest of humanity to evolve, we can choose to evolve independently.
In other words, we have been given the blessing of consciously participating in our Divine purpose, in the growth and unfolding of our soul.
The Spirit of God is always for each of us, never against any of us
As the will of the Spirit is for all of life to grow, unfold and expand that it ultimately may allow God to come into forever greater and grander expression – it follows that The spirit of God is always for all of us, never against any of us.
The Spirit is forever guiding and leading us along our unique path of unfolding, making sure that we always get exactly what we need (which is not the same as us always getting what we want) to keep on growing.
That we may learn our lessons and continue to allow for the small and limited, that which no longer serves us, to die.
So that the new and expanded may emerge from within us.
And as God is everything and in everything, absolutely everything is working for our good.
We get to consciously participate in our own unfolding
Us humans, however, are not only made in the image of God (which of course is only a matter of speaking as the Spirit is formless), but we are also made in the likeness of the Spirit which allows us to think independently of anything.
And so we get to consciously take part in our own evolution and unfolding. Regardless of what the rest of humanity is doing or not doing.
In other words, we don’t have to sit around and wait for humanity as a species to evolve.
In each and every moment we get to choose to allow for that which no longer serves us, the small and limited to die.
That the new and expanded may emerge from within the depths of our being.
That God, eternally may come into greater and grander expression, in and as our lives.
We are here to give and to share
of our gifts, abilities, and talents
The way by which we allow the Spirit to come into forever greater expression is through what we give and share.
Earlier we talked about God being Love, and that Love is the full and total giving, no withholds, no asking of anything in return.
As this is the quality of God, this is what we have come here to express more freely and more fully.
Which means that ultimately, we have come here to give and to share of that which we have to give and to share; our gifts, our talents, and our abilities.
This is only another way of describing the will of the Spirit and our Divine purpose.
As we are unique individual expressions of the Divine Whole, each of us, have a unique set of skills, and gifts, and talents.
A set that we, while here on the planet, are to discover and cultivate – to the best of our ability. Holding nothing back, asking for nothing in return.
In other words, we have not come here to get anything but we have come here to give and to let everything.
Of course, this loving giving and sharing evoke the sacred laws to work for us, and so there is never any need
We are and will always be abundantly provided for, and through the magic of unconditional giving, we make ourselves open and available to receive even more.
Spiritual practice opens us up to deeper communion
When an individual wakes up to realize that their Divine purpose in life is to reveal and reflect the face of God, through the giving and sharing of their gifts, talents, and abilities a yearning is awakened – something happens within.
A growing desire to have a closer and more intimate encounter, realization and communion with God begins to awaken.
As we gradually come to realize that God is the source of all the good – we want to hang out in the presence of the Spirit more and more.
Enters Spiritual Practices. Spiritual practices are the ways by which we make ourselves increasingly open and available to have closer and closer encounters and realizations with and of God.
They help build the spiritual muscles needed to remain sane in this insane world.
That we, to a greater and greater extent, may see the world through the eyes of God, rather than the ego.
That may have a deeper realization of that which is True and Real, excelling us forward along the path of our Divine purpose.
God is not an anthropomorphic man in the sky but a loving presence, never in absence. The Spirit is Life, not only in all of Life, but it is Love.
Likewise, the Spirit is Love, not only loving but it is Love.
And we, all of life, are unique emanations of the One.
It is our Divine purpose to come into forever deeper realization as to who and what God is, and allow this loving presence to come into forever greater and grander expression in and through us and our lives.
This is also the will of the Spirit, that all of life grow, unfold, and expand, continuously allowing the old to die and the new to emerge.
What separates us, as spiritual beings having a human incarnation, from all other forms of life on this planet (as far as we know) is that we get to choose to consciously participate in our own unfolding – independent of the rest of humanity.
We have been given the ability to consciously choose to discover and cultivate our gifts, talents, and abilities that we may increasingly give and share them with the world, for the good of all.
Spiritual practice is the means by which we make ourselves increasingly open and available, and receptive for deeper and more profound insights and revelations about that which is True and Real.
They are a must for the awakening individual.
